On a rainy day like this all we can think about is how to avoid getting soaked. And the inverting and breaking of the umbrella doesn’t help either. Well, here’s a great solution!

nubrella-1.jpg umbrella

This thing called Nubrella is not your usual umbrella. It might not look too pretty, but it does look rather practical. And since you don’t need to use your hands to hold it, you can even use it on the bike. For that, we love it even more.

The other good news is that it isn’t only a concept. You can order it for as little as 59.95 dollars.

A random surprise for the bests.

Follow the instructions, and make someones day with the sew in surprise. Then count the days (or as it would be in my case: weeks) until the loved one notices it.

A bare light bulb hanging down the ceiling makes a very special atmosphere. But if I ever decided to do that, I would go with these ones.

So you’ve been together for years now, you talked about everything you can think of, and their opposites, and all you really want to do after a long workday is sitting down quietly and peacefully and browse the internet / read a book / play? There’s nothing wrong with that, but why not make it special?

There are those classic leather sofas we don’t really like. But others do, and they even make a tribute to them. Luckily. The others are the dutch bERT&dENNIS, and their tribute is the Chester lamp.

An item that is inseparable from the geek lifestyle: a MacBook. Or dreaming about a MacBook. Or if you’re like me, it’s dreaming of a baby blue (as blue is the new pink, fyi) MacBook. It would look something like this:

Although I wouldn’t refuse one in pink either!

Experiment with other colours at the website of ColorWare, who is ready to colour almost all your gadgets (iPhone, iPod, Wii, X-Box, Zune, etc.) in a great variety of shades! I didn’t know about them before, but from now on, they’re my best friend.

If you know me, or have been a reader for a while, you won’t be surprised to see this entry here, even though its not something revolutionary. But for some reason (*khm*) this concept by Marc Graells still peaked my curiosity.

xofff.jpg

So what are we looking at, you ask? At the coaster shaped like spilled coffee, that is in reality a biscuit covered with chocolate. Or at the biscuit shaped like spilled coffee, that functions as a coaster as well!

xofff2.jpg

So what happens to the chocolate when we put the hot coffee on it, you ask again? The Xofff biscuit is not covered with chocolate where it meets the cup.

But anyway. Who doesn’t like melted chocolate?!

Sorry about the lack of posting these days, I had a bit too much fun work to do. Before we get back to the old habit of posting daily, let me introduce you to some changes we’ve done in the past weeks.

1. The most important: we fixed our RSS. It’s good news for those who wanted to read the site in hungarian. Now the hungarian RSS is working well, please update your feeds! Those who read it in english could update the address as well, although the old RSS will continue to work.

2. You can also follow comments in the sidebar.

3. You can send the posts to your friends via email.

4. And of course we’d be greatful for every vote this year as well:

My site was nominated for Best Blog About Stuff!

+1. We were looking at this image for so long, our eyes hurt.

The annual global design competition, Electrolux Design Lab, whose last years winner was the hungarian Levente Szabó, is opening again for entries.
designlab2008.jpg

This year the theme is: home appliance designs for the Internet generation. Submissions should be for 2-3 years into the future and address food storage, cooking, and/or washing. The design must aim at those between 25-35, who are independent, conscious and eco-conscious, whose lives are intertwined with technology and social networks. Sounds familiar?

The deadline is May 30, and the this years final will be held in Zurich in early October.

Florian Kräutli designer has some weird ideas. He is from The Netherlands, and I think it has a great effect on his work. For example, take a look at these animal chairs:

Or this puppet lamp:

Or the illuminating friend on your couch:

We love his work. And according to what he said in an interview, he is a real designer.

” We should stop thinking of a designer as someone who gives shape and colour to a product and see a designer more as an inventor, visionary, freak.”

This is simply the cutest things I’ve seen lately. I don’t even need to add, the object of desire is another toy for children.

Radiators can blush too. Of course, just like with humans, not all of them possesses this charming feature. Actually, we only know one, and that’s Blush by the talented icelandic designer Thorunn Arnadottir.

Watch out! There’s an unidentified flying object in your dining room!
FlyingSaucer.gif table quack

Apart from the fact, that it doesn’t fly. Inspired by the science fiction movies of the 50s, the UFO table by Quack landed right in the middle of your home. The table has an open space in the middle, where you can place a bowl. We don’t know anything of the side effects (sending data to outerspace, abduction, etc.), but maybe it’s for the better.

I’ve been quietly watching the big come back of gloves for while. How the once untrendy hat-scarf-gloves combination became an obligatory fashion accessory, we even wear it when it’s not necessary. Thumbs up for the trend that overwrites functionality! I believe we’re still going to wear them in the summer.

At the moment, I’m sitting with my jaw dropped looking at these amazing gloves. If only they were faux leather!

Once again, my non-existing german knowledge restrains me from providing more useful information about this… thing.

use-thing.jpg

But I’m sure of one thing. Use-Thing (as it was cleverly named) makes life in the crowd more bearable, by shutting out all the noise, and protecting your personal aura. Apparently, it’s comfortable to wear as well, but does it matter? It looks funny!

Where do I sign up?
