Since the ordinary toaster became such a cult item these days, it was about time someone made a museum for them.

At the site of the Toaster Museum you can browse through hundreds of toasters categorized by country, by company and by characteristics.

There is something undeniably cute and inviting in this tablecloth that reminds us of sunday dinners at grandma.

It’s especially cute if we take a closer look at the pattern!

Of course, you would need to speak dutch for it to make sense, as the Picknick tablecloth is the work of the dutch ontwerpduo. But according to their website, the message hidden in the little squares is ‘Eet Smakelijk’, meaning ‘Enjoy your dinner’.
Thank you.
There was a design competition called Trophées du Design 2008, held by de Dietrich, whose winner was Thibault Masclet with his idea of a thing called V-Line.

If you were wondering whether it was a toaster or a laptop, let me help you. It’s neither.

The V-Line is more like a multi-functional breakfast making kitchen appliance that consists of a toaster and also of a cooking surface, on which we can make tea or keep the coffee warm.

If only it had an orange squeezer in it as well…

Hangover? Bad hair day? Not enough sleep? Or all this together? It happens to all of us. There are days when the mirror breaks if we look into it. But there is a solution: the Ugly Bag.

Simply open the bag, place it over your head with the face side facing forward, and it instantly makes you prettier. All this for only 1,85 dollars. Male readers shouldn’t worry, there is a male version as well.
For extra ugly persons, the use of two bags is advised.
Attention! Sense of humour is not included!

Aren’t the shape of wine bottles boring? Isn’t it impossible to hold them glamourously? It’s time to reinvent them, thought the french company, So Chic Wines, and this is what they came up with.

The WIT (Wine In A Tube) tubes contain the company’s three best wine. A great gift idea!
Clouds seem to be the most comfortable and softest places to lay down.

Just like this Cloud, designed by Lisa Widen, because this chair is adjustable so that the seat can become the back support and vica versa.

It will be available later this year at Design House Stockholm.

I have no idea what it is, but I want it.

According to Sharewear, these are electronic dresses “that physically slot together to activate atmospheric pools of light”. These lights aren’t only above the head, but also in hidden compartments in the skirt, thus making it possible during a performance to play with them and to create different shadows.

The dresses are the work of Di Mainstone and the V2_ team.

.. are the neverending picnics.

Five percent of profits of the Bread and Wine bag, designed by Rebecca Minkoff goes to The Earth Organization. Can be pre-ordered now.
Everyone loves the mushroom. One can love it for Mario, the other might love it for psychedelico, it doesn’t matter. The mushroom is a legendary symbol. Legendary and funny.

This mushroom shaped mini cleaner is useful as well. It easily removes crumbs around the computer (of course we always promise it’s the last time, but we still eat our dinner over the keyboard), removes hair on clothing and dust on the table. Available in four colours, for only 12 dollars each.

Is there a body part that hasn’t been decorated with some jewellery yet? We’re surely running out of possibilities to make innovations on this field. But dutch people never cease to surprise me. This time it’s Eric Klarenbeek with his eye jewellery.

Would you dare to try?
It might not be the usual eyecandy you see on this blog, but it’s such a simple and a great idea, something that would have solved lots of my problems in the past, that I have to share this with you.

The Simpledoubledeux bed was designed by Drexler Guinan Jauslin architects. It’s a solution for those with small rooms, for those with no guest rooms, or for those random sleepovers.

This bed can be used as a single or as a double bed, but you can even make two seperate beds out of it. The frame comes with a foldable mattress with zipper.

We can love our plush toys as if they were living creatures. Losing them is a real issue. But what if we got them after they already “died”? Like this, for example.

Every single animal in the PlushKill Forest collection has its own story. My favourite, this blue deer above, was apparently easy to kill, as it was depressed and wanted to die anyway, even thought its tears are used for voodoo magic, and in our home the head soaks up all the negativity in the room.

To read more stories and see other plushies, go to the Cherrybox website.

Here comes the usual question: what can we seen on this picture?

Although these would be beautiful lamps, these products designed by E. Frolet és F. Pellisari are speakers. The design of Zemi is amazing with its ceramic finish, and also suitable for outdoor usage.

I have great friends. Today another one pointed me into the direction of this optical illusion, camouflaged as bookselves.

I couldn’f find the designer unfortunately, but I really like how he made the cat and bird shapes out of the same material, creating not only shelves, but chairs and toys as well. Perfect for the childrens room!
EDIT: thanks to our reader, Erin, now we know that the designer was the mexican NEL.

My friend PinkTsunamii sent me this thing that has many reasons to be featured here. Just look at it and guess what it is. An abandoned tentacle? A weird extraterrestrial bacteria? Let’s stop here with the associations.

The Bulldang can be a sofa, an armchair or a bed, it all depends how you arrange the segmented, padded, 9 meters long tube.

The designer is Hirohiko Kamiya.
Not long ago we wrote about how toasters are the new favourite things in design. Now it seems that salt & pepper shakers are the new toasters. Our new favourite kitchen accessories are these Mushroom shaped shakers.

And these cute mushrooms are on sale now for 8,37 dollars at Patina Store.
Buy the time you read this, I’ll be out of Paris for good. I don’t normally go personal here, but this is also a public announcement: updating might be a bit slow for a few days, this moving countries thing is tiring. Sorry for that.

Meanwhile why don’t you try and make me happy by voting for the photo above at Postlapsaria! And while you’re there, don’t forget to look around. The clothes are amazing!
My faithful readers know that the easiest way to grab my attention is through colours. And lots of them. Jill Greenberg photographer did quite well.

But of course, it’s not only the colours I adore on her photos.

She was born in Canada, and worked with the likes of David Bowie, The Chemical Brothers, Gwen Stefani, Liza Minelli, Tricky. The list of people I know and the people I don’t know but probably I should is endless. See it for yourself.
